Baby Massage

One on One & Baby Massage

Baby massage with Health2mama is carried out by one of our physiotherapists experienced in working with babies. We offer one on one sessions anytime at your home in the city and Sentosa. We also offer group baby massage classes at mums homes, schools or other venues.  Baby massage aims to encourage parent-child bonding whilst improving sleep, digestion, circulation and weight gain. Just as effective with Mum or Dad. During the session, parents will learn all the necessary skills required to give their baby massages at home.

What is Baby Massage?

Baby Massage is a gentle and rhythmical stroking of your baby using an oil or moisturiser to help with the gliding of the hands.  The movements of the hands over the skin helps to stimulate the production of the feel-good loving feeling hormone experienced when holding your baby close or breastfeeding them.

How Does The Baby Massage Benefit My Baby?

There are a number of benefits for a baby to have a baby massage which can include:

  • Improved sleep
  • Improve digestion and ease constipation
  • Help your baby stay relaxed and not get upset
  • Reduce crying and fussing
  • Improve weight gain
  • Enhancing the bond between you and your baby
  • Improve circulation
  • Improve babies proprioception and recognition of their body
  • Help your babies mental, social and physical development

When can a baby massage start?

Baby massage is suitable from newborn to 9 months. Before 4 weeks old we advise baby massage at home as a class situation can be a bit overwhelming for some babies and difficulties arise when trying to get to class on time.

When is the best time for baby massage?

The best time is when your baby is in their calm-alert state.  This is when they have been awake for a short period and have been fed and are comfortable.  In this state they will be responsive and content and gain the most from the experience.
